Do you need to fence a Technypool?

Most probably not. Under the Fencing Act, swimming pools must be fenced. In the case of Above-ground pools, in which category the Technypool falls into, the side wall of the pool may constitute the fence, as the walls are 1.25m high, which meets the requirement for a fence measuring at least 1.2 metres high. However, there are further requirements which must be met. You should refer to your local city council for a firm assessment of your site situation.

In general, though, the main points are summarized below :

There must be no climbable points within 1.2M of the pool.

• So you should check with your local city council whether the use of a removable pool ladder is acceptable if it is removed and stored away under lock and key when the pool is not in use and unsupervised.
• You should ensure that items such as the pool pump and filter are sited at least 1.2M away from the pool and cannot be moved/used as a climbing structure.
• You cannot have a boundary fence, or any other fence or structure within 1.2M of the pool wall, as this could facilitate entry into the pool.
